Tornadoes in Minneapolis

I'm about 25 miles SW of Minneapolis but yeah a couple tornadoes went through North Minneapolis. We just got torrential downpours...its weird
nice sunny day
then the heavens open up for 10 minutes or so
then its gone for an hour or so
then the heavens open back up

its sunny....for now ;)

But yeah they have areas in Minneapolis blocked off due to down trees/no power etc

You live closer to tornado alley than I do.....it's rare to have a twister here, but from time to time we get 'em too. I saw on drudge about the twisters in Minneapolis, and you're the only person I know of who lives in the area....I was just curious.

Iceberg, glad to hear you're okay. This does seem to be the year for tornadoes. Not looking forward to hurricane season here...

+1. Glad Ice is OK, and it's been in the UPPER 90's here the last couple of days. I think we've got a real "batten down the hatches" kind of summer coming! :(

They were about 2 blocks north of my place, in Fridley. I'm okay, but the neighborhood just north of me lost a ton of trees and had a number of roofs collapse. My old neighbors had a huge tree in their yard completely uprooted.

And I'm moving in 3 days -- the new house survived everything as well :)

Good news from iceberg, he described what happened down here about 3 weeks back. Some areas of our state were hit by tornados and high winds early in the morning, then later in the afternoon another round fired up and came through. And yes, some cities and towns were hit twice, very unusual and deadly.

We've been lucky this year as far as tornados go...nothing major here. However it's rained since it stopped snowing lol...This weekend was the first halfway decent couple of days in a long time. Record rain in April over 10 inches. So far May isn't much better...rain everyday this week again. It's a battle to keep the yard mowed...or swamp that was a yard.
