Signed up for Dish late July. Wanted the HD Absolute package which was approximately 40 HD channels for 29.99 per month.

Was talked into the 1 cent promotion for Cinemax if I use automatic billing.

Dish installer guy shows up, and I'm unimpressed. He seems more interested in smoking a cigarette than installing the satellite.

He goes up on my roof and says he doesn't have line of site to the south west. That's not a big deal, he states, as it only effects the satellite receiver for my Cinemax. Nothing else is affected.

I tell him to cancel the install of that Satellite dish, and just install the other satellite receiver which he said is for all my other channels and has a clear line of site to the south east.

But, he can't do the work until he's got a correct work order. He calls Dish, they can't fix the work order. I have to call and get another work order.

I call Dish, they tell me the account has been cancelled. WTF?

I tell them, no, didn't want the account cancelled, need to reschedule. They tell me my Absolute package is no longer available, they've gone to HD Turbo, and the install fee has gone up to $99 from $49.99.

I talk them out of charging me the additional $50.00 and I sign up with the new Turbo HD package.

A day later, satellite installer company calls me, said they have some questions about my order. They show I have a 2 year commitment and that I signed up for Cinemax. I explain that Cinemax was the whole problem and that I didn't sign up for 2 year commitment. They call Dish with me on the line and get it sorted out.

I call today to speak with the satellite installer company and get bounced 4 times as nobody seems to know wtf is going on. Finally speak with someone who says, nope, can't get Dish. More than just Cinemax was on that satellite pointing to the south west. I can't get dish at all.

So I blow a fuse. Between Dish's customer service reps who are very poor, some don't speak very good English, and the runaround with the local installer, I drop some choice words.

Somebody lied. Either the tech who came out to install Dish was lying about only Cinemax was coming through on the dish pointing south west, or the tech on the phone I just spoke with doesn't know what's going on.

I just want local channels for Cleveland, Ohio, and the Turbo HD package.

Anyone know if I have clear line of site to the south east if that's possible?

Man, I'm sooooo angry at the moment.

Also, aghost, don't feel too bad. This is TYPICAL customer service for dish network. Maybe some day they'll be shamed enough to actually fix it.
