I am trying to set up a slimline 5 with a hr-22 as my meter device and i know i got to be missing something obvious. I can get all sat 101 111 119 at 95+ 99 at 76 but no 103 at all. If i rotate the dish about 1/4 in to the west i get 103 in the 80's but none of the other sats and ideals or tips i read the boards for bout three hours sorry if this is a requestion could find the spacific answer

Thanks for any help you guys can provide

I have the same problem. I have 101 110 119 and 99 but I can't find 103. how far did you have to go west to find it? What kind of meter did you get.

I had to move it about .25 in to the west to get 103 but i dont get the rest when i have 103

i will try adjusting tilt and skew tonight should i go off what the D* box says or some other tilt and skew recomendations

the zip is 60442

If you're getting both 101W and 119W, your tilt is probably fine. I'd be tweaking the elevation.

There is a non-negligible probability that there's something wrong with your LNB assembly.

Self-installing is overrated.

If you have everything but 103W, you don't need to be fiddling with your azimuth.
101 is 94
110 is 83
119 is 92
99a is 89
99 b is 0
103 a is 0
103 b is 0

How is 103 found if not with azimuth. I have a slimline 5 lnb

You can't get 99W and 119W without the dish being pointed in the right direction with pretty close to the right tilt. Elevation is how you would dial 103W in (again, assuming that the LNB is not busticated; a possibly very bad assumption).

Where else in the sky could you expect to find such an arrangement of satellites?

Sorry I just seen this. This I did not try. Tweaking my elevation to find 103. I've been just moving my azimuth to try and find 103. I ran out of beer as I was gettig stressed not finding 103. LOL I'll try doing this when it stops raining here. Self install is overrated but that how you learn . How big is the window for 103?

Still no luck for me. Can a lnb go bad. I'm guessing you can just replace one correct.

I would suspect you are not dithering the dish on 101; just hoping you have found the max signal will not find the center of the 101 beam, and if you don't find the center of the 101 beam then one or both of 99a/103b will not come in correctly.

If I have 90% on 99a is that close to the 103.I have 94% on 101 and 94% on 119 85% on 110.Here is a dumb question. I've been using my son at the tv to check the meter. Does it matter if he is on 103a or 103b. That might be my problem. He has only been using 103a. I hope that's the problem. Please let me know.

103a carries only spotbeams and most of the signals will be low or zero. You have to use 103b.
From your reply it still seems you are not using dithering to find the center of the 101 beam. This whole process is much easier if you follow the correct procedures. just because you got 94 on one transponder on 101 does not mean you are at the center of the beam. A correctly aligned dish will show several transponders on 101 and 119 at a level of 100.

For future reference (until they change it):

99a are the CONUS channels on 99W
103b are the CONUS channels on 103W
99b are the spotbeams on 99W
103a are the spotbeams on 103W

It would be mighty nice if they would standardize on the HR designations of (c) and (s).

From these numbers does it look like my 101 is center. Once centered you just move the elev and tilt for 103 correct?
