Is there a way with the remote control 54.0 to turn the tv off but keep the Hopper 3 receiver on?
Actually the Hopper 3 never shuts down, it can go into standby mode (inactivity timeout). This setting is called inactivity timeout and is accessed by pressing the home button twice then scrolling over and down to Power and select inactivity time out.Is there a way with the remote control 54.0 to turn the tv off but keep the Hopper 3 receiver on?
What I do is turn off with the power button then press the Info button on the Dish remote. That keeps it from shutting off.I want to be able to pause a show I am watching, turn tv off, and walk the dog. When I return I want to turn tv on and take it out of pause.
But only for an hour...I am not always recording the live tv. It records to cache when I press pause.
It does for me.Doesn't it work to press the tv button on the side of the remote and then press the power button?
The 54.0 does not have a dedicated TV Power button compared to the 50.0/52.0 which has both a Power on the top left and a TV Power button on the top right, the later which is supposed to turn on/off the TV only but as I reported in posts #20-23 in the following thread, the TV Power seems to be sending both a TV Power signal to the TV and also a RF signal to the Hopper 3 putting it into standby which is how the Power button is supposed to work. The Power button is supposed to turn both the TV on/off and the Hopper 3 on/standby when pressed.Actually the Hopper 3 never shuts down, it can go into standby mode (inactivity timeout). Newer TVs have HDMI-CEC that controls periferals such as surround sound Blu-Ray and other devices. Having this enabled may put your Hopper3 in standby mode when you turn off the TV. This may be avoided by pressing any button such as the select button on the Dish 54 remote after turning the TV off, or by disabling HDMI-CEC on the TV.
I always leave my Hopper or any receiver powered on. The reason is simple, it's already tuned to the channel so I can watch whatever was shown for the last 60 minutes. As for the later, my DVR is 100% full so that will never happen until I find the time to actually move everything and not having duplicates. Already have 15 2TB drives for external drives.why would anyone want to leave there hopper onwhy not just let it goto sleep it will still record your programs

Seems like Bobby and your remotes work correctly when TV and power is pressed on the 54.x. On my 54.1, I changed the TV remote to Sony 810 from LG as I have a LG TV just to see what happens and it seems like pressing TV and then Power would immediately put the Hopper 3 into standby with the Press Sat button to watch tv. It would help if you and Bobby can post the software version for the 54.x remotes as mines is E011T504EW59.After I press TV and then power, a message appears that says you need to push something within a few seconds or the DVR will go to sleep, and I think that might loose your pause state in something not being recorded. So maybe, TV, power, then something harmless like info? Or maybe TV, POWER, THEN pause? (Don't press pause before in this case.)
I think he's saying that doesn't work fo him.Doesn't it work to press the tv button on the side of the remote and then press the power button?
