Turning off TV

I've got a ~60" Sony LCD Projection HD TV. Is it safe to allow my AV Receiver to turn off the TV via the switched outlet?

Id say no. Projection TVs fan continue to cool bulb after off power button is pressed. You should also use UPS for power outages.

Agreed; I think the user guides say to use a non-switched power connection for such reasons.
