Ok, I finally ditched Directv and added a second Hopper3 to my system and replaced the Genie, its clients and 2 tuner DVRs with 2 Joey 4s and five 4K joeys in addition to the new Hopper3, and my original Hopper3w/ hopper+ and 3 wireless Joey4s. (BTW, 4k joeys still offer the binge watch feature which was a HUGE unexpected bonus since falling asleep to a continous episode play was the reason my wife made us keep both Dish & Directv for 2 years... wish I would have know sooner).

I'm fairly pleased with accessibility of recordings however, changing the H3 a joey is linked to often requires a reboot of the h3, joey or both to get it to work or at least go back to what was linked, so 3 of the joeys are redundant to a specific TV and linked to different H3s since changing the linked H3 is so problematic. So on the TVs with redundant receivers, changing the TV input switches the Joey that is linked to the other H3. This also makes Hopper+ available on the TV for streaming since apps are so limited on 4k Joeys. So the TVs with dual receivers have a 4K Joey linked to the new H3 with no hopper+, and a joey4 linked to the H3 with Hopper +.

A very weird problem that seems to happen only on the Joey 4s (both wired and wireless) but not on the 4k Joeys is that when you access recordings from them recorded on the H3 that is not linked to that Joey4, it sporadically gives an error message "Your TV is not compatible with this 3D event".

None of the shows are 3D. Also, there is no pattern of shows, episodes or timer configurations where it is repeatable. Some timers record just episodes and for the last week, they are all accessible. For a another series, 2 out of 3 will give the error. For timers set to record a block of time, 4 of 5 blocks didn't give the error, where another time block recording 4 of 5 give the error. Occasionally, fixing this requires a joey reboot. What is not random is once this error occurs on a specific episode/block, all of the Joey 4s will get that error for that episode/block. Have not experienced it on the 4k joeys at all.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Dish support says I'm not supposed to have 2 Joey's hooked to the same TV and you can only access the recordings to the H3 the joey is linked to...which was what the installer said too but I printed and handed the wiring image charlesrshell posted here to him... he rolled his eyes and tossed it on the bed saying "he knew what he was doing and his supervisor said its not possible." After a couple hours of the installer having problems and the installer getting on a conference call with me and the supervisor, the supervisor said they'd try it... and sure enough, it worked.

THANKS charlesrshell!!!

One other weird problem is that neither of the Joey 4s will work when routing output through my Yamaha receiver. Audio goes through but video does not.

Checked joeys, TV and receiver for updates, restarted, etc and it still doesn't work. For now, it's plugged into a different input directly into the TV, but audio still comes out of receiver and switching between joeys just requires hitting the SAT button on the remote and both play audio through surround sound audio receiver.

Any help would be greatly appreciated before my wife gets back in town in a week.

I run into the same issue when I try to watch a DVR event from my other Hopper 3 in the home using the Hopper 3 conntected to a Hopper Plus... Nothing I have done has rectified the issue.

Ok, I think figured out that the TV not compatible with 3D event. I think it is a bug in the android TV OS when you have two H3s.

The reason I think this is all 5 of the Joey 4s (2 wired, 3 wireless but wired to my network either through MOCA or directly to ethernet) have the same error, on the same episodes on the H3 they are not linked to. They are all linked to the original H3, which has h+ and when H+ is connected the original H3 has the same problem on the same episodes, BUT...
I disconnected the H+ from the original H3 and all the problematic episodes played just fine. Since all the J4s essentially are their own stand alone h+'s, it seems anything android TV OS receiver has this problem and since the 4kJoeys and H3 have the same UI, and none of them have the problem, I feel like Google is to blame.

Do you think it would be worthwhile to swap all the links on the Joeys to the opposite H3? It really shouldn't make any difference since they are all MOCA coax (which is managed by the original h3) or on ethernet, but I'm wondering if the are linked to the new H3 they won't have a problem accessing the episodes they are linked to, and with the original H3 managing all the MOCA connections, connecting it thru other devices might work? Maybe????

As for the no video but have audio on the J4, thru receiver HDMI, I replaced all the HDMI cables with brand new 8k 2.1 HDMI cables to no avail. The TV is a brand new Samsung QLED 75" 4k and I tried the cold boot again but rebooted the Joey4 at the same time and the TV actually displayed the J4 reboot screen at start up, but after it was running the OS the video disappeared, audio came on, and TV gave an error msg that there is no connection to the device (even tho audio was playing).

Now, interestingly, when J4 is plugged directly into a TV input, the TV says it's resolution for that input is 3840x2160 60p HDR DD+ UHD. The 4K joey is set to 4k, 1980p, or 1080i and has no problem going thru receiver. I'm wondering if the

The J4 TV settings doesn't allow you to define the resolution, only adjust screen positioning. The receiver HDMI controls only have 1.4 and "Auto". It seems like the receiver isn't passing through the resolution of the J4 the TV is expecting... is that possible? The image is the video specs for the receiver:

That is a lot for one post. I've never seen the 3d message. But I don't think it would have to do with having multiple receivers connected to one tv. The inputs are seperate and shouldn't interfere with it. It's possible to be a setting on the TV though.

As for video not going through the Yamaha it may be that it doesn't support hdr. But normally it should still go through at 1080.

Also this is definitely not an approved setup. Teo h3s are supposed to each be on their own solo node. I know others have said they haven't had issues with same or similar setup, but I'm just saying it's not approved so tits therefore not guaranteed to work. Since the hoppers can see each other though, make sure only one of them is connected to internet. Both being connected can cause issues with the Joey's.
