A quick count on HD Sports Guide reveals 70 sporting events in the next 14 days broadcast on regional networks. Not all of the RSN's are uplinked on E* and some might be duplicates so let's call it 35. 35 live HD sporting events in the next 14 days isn't enough content? How many events does ESPN have in the next 14 days?
We missed MLB games this past summer, CFB games this fall and now we're missing NHL and NBA games. E*, please light up the RSN's in HD.

I'm about to switch to Directv or Comcast. They both have RSN HD for my area and I want to watch NBA and MLB games in HD. Price with Comcast is not an issue anymore since uncle Charlie is matching Comcast pricing penny by penny with all these fees.

He has it as a way to confuse potential new viewers who can't buy Sunday Ticket.... You can watch half of the weeks games in HD, just not live (assuming you get 2-4 games via your HD locals + ESPN + NBC Sunday Night + NFL Network live games + mid week rebroadcasts)....
I'm one of those looking for my RSNs live... but it will be difficult in NYC with SNY, MSG, FSNY, and maybe YES someday jockeying for bandwidth...
At LEAST give us the live games in an HD feed on a few ALT1,2,3,4 channnels. You can give back the bandwidth when the games are over...

Sounds like Charlie picked this up as a sound byte he could use from some marketing meeting about RSNs so he'd have a response. Obviously there is more than enough content to launch the RSNs in HD. It's just not a high enough priority for them to get it done.
D* and Comcast must think there is enough content to have the RSN's in HD. Why not E* ??
Uncle Charlie is:
A) Cheap
B) anti Sports
C) the new pig in town
D) all of the above

I actually thought E* would have some new HD programming to talk about during CES.........NOT
The other part was too few subscribers. Gonna be fewer if they don't make a firm anouncement real soon.
Somehow everyone leaves off the second half of Charlie's sentence:
He did say they would be available some time this year. That means that E* feels that they do now have sufficient HD content.
Another point is that Charlie was referring to HD RSNs not becoming available in the past. So, citing current HD programming on the channels is not strictly relevant.

When the the RSNs had any programming worth watching besides the Regional sport games attached to them? That has always being the case whether on SD or HD? I never turned to MSG-HD or FNY-HD, YES-HD or SNY-HD, unless a game is in HD. Never never... so to me what count as relevant content is the game that they present.
Here in NY... MSG-HD and FNY-HD presents both the Knicks, Islanders, Devils, & Rangers in HD.
YES-HD, SNY-HD present Mets, Yankees and NJ Nets in HD. All of these are relevant content to NYers or RSNs. There is no more to watch whether in HD or not. I am sure others can say the same for their own region. So Charlie is blowing too much smoke again....

I sent an email to ceo@E* about RSN's and the Golf/Versus HD channel (which is free to E* btw) and the general message of the response is that E* offers more hd channels than anyone else and they're happy with that right now.
I'm not expecting any new HD channels from E* for quite some time.

While the RSNs in HD don't have any content most of the time, they have compelling content some of the time. Since, as was pointed out, E*'s competitors offer them Charlie's disingenuous response is just that (Charlie just doesn't want to pay). I also don't believe E* has any bandwidth available for HD.
Right now (and forgetting about the pathetic installation) I prefer my E* setup to my former D* setup. I have more HD content of interest to me, especially since I'm in the NY area and I wouldn't be getting MSG-HD or FSNY-HD anyway (they are, at this point, "cable exclusives"). What D* MAY get in the future is just that: in the future. At that point I can decide, if necessary, to switch back. But remember, how many times have posters admonished those who want to know why D* didn't live up to its promises about this channel or that service? D* hasn't done ANYTHING with these new HD channels just announced, yet; I'll consider their offerings when the channels are lit up.
