Unlock Home Video Network?

I'm new to the Hopper this week and have been exploring the various features. I found that it recognized and accessed my Plex Server, which is a great feature! However, I have my Hopper set up with parental locks and when I did this, it locked the Plex access as well, so I would need to enter a passcode. This isn't convenient for sharing the content I have for the kids and want them to have access. Is there a way to unlock just the Home Video Network?

Thanks for your help!

If I recall correctly, the home media option on the Hoppers right now will always have a prompt for a password even if Hopper parental controls are turned off. That used to drive me nuts so I stopped using home media.

I would be patient and see if future software updates to the Hopper will address this. To where home media is independent of parental settings. Home media is more of a nice to have and not a core feature for Dish. So they are not rushing to enhance it amongst other priorities, in my opinion.

I can confirm that it was "open" when I first was exploring. As soon as I set the Parental Controls, it required the password. Sounds like that's where it will stay. It would be nice to have some flexibility to turn it on and off.

Thanks for your response!

I doubt they will get to it, it was designed this way since the Hopper does not know what the video you are watching via Home Media is rated. This is to keep smart kids (or others) from watching porn on the TV when perental controls are tuned on. :)

Dish's logic for this is probably a failsafe. Since it's being played through the Dish box, someone will blame Dish if a kid plays some porn that their parents have on a home media server.... So, since Dish doesn't know the rating, they force the user to unlock it. If you enable parental controls, anything that is missing a parent control rating value or is marked as "NR" (Not Rated) gets blocked too. Sub-channels that are picked up by OTA are frequently caught in this as are some of the Sirius music channels.

Can't hate them for protecting themselves. Some people complain about the dumbest things, even if they are the ones at fault. (This is not insinuating that is what is going on with the OP).
