We took advantage of the $100 upgrade to a 522 last week. We upgraded to the 625 on Sat. We were leasing a 501 and 301, and the upgrade to the 625 is a wash cost wise, so our bill did not go up or down.
Overall Im very pleased with the 625, when I called to upgrade last week, I was told it would be a 522, and the Dish Installer brought a 625. No, problem, I wont use the VOD anyway.
We've been chomping at the bit to get a dual tuner for 2 years now. I dont think I would ever go back toa VCR or plain cable box. I'ld give away my TV and watch nothing rather than go backwards to a non DVR world.
Im still waiting for a cheaper solution for a HD dual tuner PVR.
$700-$800 for a 942 is not worth it. My 36" HDTV TV isnt getting its full use but Im happy with what we have.
I even think the picture quality on the 625 is better than the old 501 and 301. on my HD and my non-HD tv.
The guide and GUI screens are better looking and work better than the 501.
