I currently have a 622, and a 522.

I want to upgrade the 522 to another 622, or 722, since I upgraded the TV in the bedroom to HD.

I was quoted on chat:

Swapping 522 for 622 ($50 upgrade fee - $25 off promo) = $25 FEE
$2/month additional HD DVR receiver fee over 522 fee.

$10 off a month for 12 months for 2-year committment (out of contract)
Tried to get free premiums etc., no luck.

We also just got HD locals in my area, but they are on 129, and I don't have line of sight without putting on roof on 2-story and running alot more cable to other side of the house, guess they would have to swap for dish 1000?
I have a 2-dish 500's, one pointed at 61.5.

Anybody had any luck getting anything better on an upgrade?, premiums etc.

I would play CSR roulette a few times, write down the name of the person you spoke with and the offer you get. When I renewed my contract a few months ago I got:

HBO/Showtime 3 months free
$10 off for 12 months
already had penny cinemax
free 622 (installer brought me a 722 :) )

Didn't want free Showtime and HBO but I got $10 off for 12 months and a FREE upgrade from my 622 to a 722k ($30 for the dual OTA tuner module).

Just wondering, did they ship it to you & allow you to self install or did you have to have a tech come out? I'd probably bite on that but want to do it myself. Thanks!

I was afraid of that. I'd have to swap my 722 to the existing 622 location & install the 722k where the 722 is now. Not easy access at either place & I'd much rather do it myself. Guess I could have the 722 moved and just have the 622 disconnected until he got here. Last time I needed a tech everything went great but I've had no shows/no calls in the past. Hate sitting around waiting for someone to show up.
Thanks for the reply-appreciate it!

Let the tech bring the receiver and watch you do the installation while he drinks a glass of ice tea or whatever.

Boy did Dish foul things up...
I went with the 24-month dishin it up UPGRADE
Got 622 to replace my 522
12-$10 monthly credits
3-months free HBO/Showtime
No fee to upgrade the receiver
At the same time since they said a tech had to bring the receiver out, I asked to get my locals upgraded to HD, since I would need a new dish.

After I got off the phone my LOCALS were Gone!
Back on the phone and was told that my SD locals are gone because I switched to HD locals and I wouldn't have locals until my new dish was installed 14-days from now !!

They had to cancel everything and make 2 separate work orders and 2 separate appointments. After being on phone for almost 1-hour, said my locals would be back on in 15 mins. 3 hours later, still no locals. Got transfered to a leve 2 tech, who reviewed everything and said the 1st tech goofed, that everything had to be put in a certain order.

Got transfered to a resolution specialist, another 1-hour on the phone, and I decided that for now, I would just do the receiver upgrade and worry about the HD locals later since I am not sure I have a 129 line of sight anyway.

Amazing how the right person can "fix" everything. She said you don't need a tech to come out to swap receivers do you?, I said no they told me I had to have a tech come out. Of course there goes the possibility of getting a 722 instead of a 622. I assume I am going to get a refurbed 622???

Got off the phone and logged into my dish account and they had everything screwed up billing wise. Got back on the phone to specialist and she apologized etc.. and 30-mins later supposedly everything fixed and she gave me the everything pak for 6-months to make up for my hassle.

Long story short 3-4 hours, to get something that should have taken 10-mins.

I just extended my contract (24months) I bought 322 for $45.00 . free HBO,STARZ,SHOWTIME for 6 months multi sports pack free for 6 months and $15.00 off my bill for a year. I'd say i got a good deal.
