Use of a 6000 without subscription but view of 61.5?

I know that the 6000 must be able to see a satellite signal in order for the 8VSB to work (OK, really as long as you never hit guide or loose power once it's see the bird). Since the 921 can do only one OTA I was thinking about keeping the 6000 just for OTA viewing but not have it authorized on Dish, this way I can record OTA on the 921 and view something else OTA on the 6000. Will this work or does the 6000 need to also be authorized, I'm trying not to give Charlie $4.99/month? Thanks - Rick
 
Yes, as long as the 6000 receives a DISH satellite signal, the 8VSB will work. No subscription needed. (unless they change this in the future)

And even if they do, you'll be okay if you set the 6000 not to accept firmware upgrades.
