VCR Plus and Comcast Digital Cable

We are having a problem recording using VCR Plus with Comcast Digital Cable. I'm suspecting that Comcast has changed something again for their DVR functionality. When we turn on the VCR, the screen goes blank and nothing happens when the VCR Plus setup button is pressed. The cable feed comes into the VCR (that's how VCR Plus works) then into the TV.

Any ideas on a work around? We've called Comcast and they claim that they didn't change anything....... very frustrating.
