Verizon goes after Cablevision

If Verizon Communications has its way for the first time in the three-decade history of cable television on Long Island customers in many communities will be able to start choosing between two competitors for service perhaps next year. The giant phone company has begun installing equipment in some communities that would enable it to offer cable TV service in competition with Cablevision Systems Corp.
