VIDEO - YouTube on the Hopper 3

Here is a video of YouTube on the Hopper 3 with Paris Bradley.

Note that while the Hopper is a 4K receiver it can NOT play back 4K Content from YouTube as the Chipset does not support the VP9 format which was introduced after the chipset for the Hopper 3 went into production.

Also please note... sorry about the focus on this one at the beginning, while shooting and looking at a tiny 3 inch screen I noticed it looked a little fuzzy and while we were shooting I noticed some how the auto foxus was turned off... so I went in and manually focused for the rest of the video.

Will the YouTube app come to the Hopper 2 eventually (like the new UI) or is there something in the HWS chipset where the app can only work on the Hopper 3?

Likely not. There was talk that the hardware is not compatible.

dang! I guess I'm going to have to get the Hopper 3 then. Since Vevo I've been patiently waiting for the Youtube app. I wonder how the hardware isn't compatible when Vevo works fine?

i bet the DirecTV fanboys are mad that the Hopper is gaining YouTube while DirecTV's HD-DVRs/Genie no longer have it after YouTube made to where it broke DirecTV's YouTube app.
