Is it normal for the VIP 922 not able to change channel while recording?

Is this on TV1 or TV2? Do you have the receiver in Single or Dual mode? Do you have record plus enabled or disabled? This is not on our known product issue list.
If its recording two programs at once.. u have to watch what ur recording...or watch a recorded dvr program...
What I do...is I search for later shows in the program guide...so its not always recording two shows at once )

922 in family room.
922 in master bedroom.
2 other TV's in other rooms access DISH without receivers.
I am only recording one show...

Each of the rooms that do not have a 922 are connected to one of the 922s. The default setting on the 922 is to record to TV 2, the room without the 922. If something is recording you would have to watch what is being recorded or something that has already been recorded on TV2. You can change the setting if you do not want it to record to TV2. Here are the steps on how to do this.

You can press the mode button on the 922 to place the receiver in single mode. When it is in single mode both TVs would show the same thing.
If you find that 2 tuners are not enough the VIP922 can accept DISH's MT2 (Dual Over The Air Tuners) Module.This would give your 922 the ability to record 4 programs(2SAT+2OTA) at the same time(while watching a prerecorded program).This helps to cut down on recording conflicts.

That is another way to tell what TV is connected to the 922. The one connected to the family room will have the OTA channels available on TV2.
I just make sure when I select a program to record from my local channels to make sure your selecting it from the antenna locals area in your guide(the yellow channels).
