VOD: How much bandwidth or internet download speed required?

Is there a recommendation on fast should the user's internet download speed for VOD to download quickly?

We currently have a 12mb down tier with ATT Uverse and am considering upgrading to the 24mb down tier to add capacity room for VOD and the kids online gaming.

ATT Uverse is our only internet option here as Time Warner and Verizon FIOS is not available in our area.

I'd say you have more than enough speed. A higher tier may not yield detectable results.

1/501 is downloaded via sat. Most content is ipvod.

I have consistantly observed my Dish dowloads at around 14 mbps. I have 30 mbps downstream. However that speed just allows for very fast downloads no necessarily higher quality downloads if somepne has about a 12 or 7mbps downstream. Yes, I love how fast the downloads are. I can download several episodes of an HD series in ratner short time.

VOD needs about 7mbps to get up to and stay with an HD level signal when streaming down and to not pause while playing back.

Channel 1 and 501 content is downloaded to you received hard drive via satellite. If you look in the on demand menus most content is content you stream over the Internet, hence ip video on demand.
