A FYI. I gave ViaTalk a try and found out that they don't support any modem calls, only FAX. I found out when I have my D* Tivo's try to make a call out and they wouldn't connect. The Tivo's wouldn't even complete the call to update the phone numbers so I could try different access numbers. I opened a tech support ticket with them, their response was "Direct TV updates via a modem will not work through the service. The only data signals that we can process are fax. Sorry for the trouble." So if you need that functionality you might want to look elsewhere.
