[VOOM] VaVaVoom Free Upgrade

I inquired via e-mail to Voom about their staying in business and
asked about the free upgrade to VaVaVoom for two months to remain a
subscriber. I got a lengthy response and was given a number to call
to discuss the upgrade. So I called and told the rep what I had
received and who I spoke to. He put me on hold for about 30 seconds.
Then he came back and said he would give me the free upgrade to stay
with Voom. He asked me to power off the stb and then it came back on
and I had every channel except Playboy. At least I can relax a
little and enjoy a lot of movies until Voom issues are resolved.
We'll see what happens. Anybody else get the upgrade?

Does it really cost them? Maybe they should do this for all of us for a short time, just to keep everyone happy during this period. Why do we still get Starz?

I did not "Squeeze" anybody for anything. Voom pays for all of their
programming and it does not cost them any more if they give you all
the channels or on half of them. By giving me a free upgrade, they
keep me as a subscriber for two more months at $60/mo. as opposed to
me cancelling and giving my business and my money to one of their
competitors. I was merely giving Voom the opportunity to retain a
client at no extra cost to them. This is America if you haven't
noticed. We all have choices!

I just assumed they decided to release it into the standard channel
tier.
The TW cable I ditched for Voom had all the Starz channels in their
"digital" tier, which is one step up from the lowest subscription rung.

When I called last week and asked the rep about it, I was told it was only available for new
subscribers. Then he told me about the 5 new channels and how VOOM was going to be
around for the long haul and not go under as some rumors had been indicating.

He was a nice guy and we talked for a long time, but no free upgrade was on offer.
