Heya guys -

I've been lurking here for many months but have never posted before.

After spending time with the VOOM and DTV reps at CES I've decided on a new
approach which will make me Voomless. :/

I currently have a DTiVo with basics+local and va va voom for HD. Ultimately
we're only using the VOOM for HD movies on the premiums and for some of
their original content which I've really enjoyed - I just can't stand
watching live TV despite how good the HD looks. A while back I was able to
pull in CBS HD from another market OTA as it's not offered in mine but with
one of the S/W updates I can no longer do that.

I had been planning to buy the HD DTiVo but it looks like it will be
functionally obselete when DTV goes to MPEG4 for HD locals and DTV is moving
towards non-tivo PVR's.

So, I'm going to keep my DTivo and add Comcasts dual tuner HD DVR which will
give me the networks in HD for 1/2 the price of VOOM with the DVR which Voom
seems incapable of bringing to market. The comcast box is a Motorola 6412,
I'm sure the software will suck compared to TiVo but at least I'll be able
to watch my shows in HD without commercials which is something no other
service could currently offer.

Ultimately these are all stop-gap solutions and I expect to be buying some
type of HD solution from either VOOM or DTV in 2 years which will bring me
to the the promised land of : HD locals + premiums+ PPV with home media
distribution, etc.

Just wanted to thank Robert for getting rid of the spam that was making this
thing useless.

The best of luck to all of you and to VOOM - I can't hate them as they did
TRY (they even installed a 12' weingard yagi w/rotator for n/c)

Best,

MattK
