I have been following this group for a little while.
I've read the negative posts etc.
My installation went really well, the installers were on time,
professional & cleaned up after themselves. He even brought in a
dustbuster to clean where he drilled. In an hours time they were
in/out left with 95% sat & ota strength.
For those VOOM/CV guys reading this all went well. thanks.
PS. even the wife who was nervous about getting a dish is happy with
the VOOM setup

[VOOM] Re: Installation Experience

Well you are the lucky one....

I had a terrible experience with install and then with service
appointment. The installer left me with "0" OTA channels when
antennaweb states I should get at least 14-16 channels.

When I complained I got VOOM to set a service call for me, I stayed
home all day and they guy never showed up, he kept telling me from
1:30 PM that he will be at my place in 15 minutes and never showed
up. This is in spite getting emails and calls from VOOM corporate
office representative.

Well all I have is myself to blame for as two local providers of
VOOM (I got their numbers from VOOM website) warned me against using
VOOM as I will have problem with the local channels and customer
service.

I should have stayed with D*

RE: [VOOM] Re: Installation Experience

Mandar, sorry to hear about your experience with your installer.
Unfortunately your problem is with your INSTALLER, NOT VOOM!!

Voom, just like Directv, Dish and most cable companies rely on contractors
to do their installs. When was the last time you saw an installer pull up in
a directv van wearing a directv uniform? .. or dish or cable company?
Doesn't happen. I feel bad you're getting hosed from the installer company
but don't take it out on VOOM as that's misguided.

Get Voom to hire a different company who will do the job right and start
enjoying 35+ channels of High Definition TV!

Best of luck to ya..

[VOOM] Re: Installation Experience

Robert,

I agree 100% with you that it is the install problem and not the
VOOM issue. If you check my post on AVS Plasma forum I have stated
my comments on VOOM HD and SD quality, it is better and beats D*

The issue is VOOM is charging some money for install v/s D* is free
install. Additionally their monthly package is more money than D*.
So we are buying premium service and not mass market. If that is
true then I expect a quality service. I think VOOM management
should take note of this and go after Install.com

I have Pioneer Elite DVD player, I had issue with the player and
service I received was premium cause I paid $$$ for the player. So I
expect same with VOOM
