I just got Voom installed today, and I need a little help. I keep reading that Voom is going
to fade away. Is this true or just BS. I am new to all this HD stuff and I hope I did not make
a mistake. Also should I use the RGB or the DVI (I think that is what it is called). Please be
gental I am new and need some help. thanks

Dan, Rainbow Media and Cablevision are trying to spinoff and essentially be two independent companies, in that filing they list their economic status as "not good" they also say they have the funds to continue in operation for about 2 years. They list their marketing mistakes etc... I take it as nothing to be alarmed about, as Rainbow Media (owner or AMC, IFC, and WE, as well as VOom) are not bankrupt yet, and have to change the trend and get more subscribers.

I have been with Voom since May, most of the firmware issues have been ironed out, and yes their service is much, much better NOW than it was in May. Even though with problems in May I really like Voom, now with the latest news of DVR and it's capabilities, the new Cinema10 lineup that's coming in OCtober (Kung FU HD channel!! Woohoo!!!) I'm very happy with Voom and I feel I made the right choice.

If the worst thing happens and in 2 years Voom goes under, the worst thing that can happen is that we all have to go to DirectTV.. In the meantime welcome to Voom and enjoy the most HD!

Also Component Cables (which you call RGB) vs DVI depends on TV and person, DVI with Voom gives a sharper picture, but enhances some of the compression artifacts, component gives a softer picture, but you notice the artifacts like pixelation less... it's purely up to you, it's what you think looks best on your TV.

Or those of us with personal grudges against DirecTV and Dish, back to local
ripoff cable.
