[VOOM] Re: Closed Caption

what does paragraphs (f) and (g) say...

Paragraphs (f) and (g) states the sensitivity of an analog tuner and that the tuner is supposed to be just as sensitive on UHF as it is on VHF. Of course analog tuner specs wouldn't apply to digital tuners :)

wow... wow wow wow... what a bunch of whiners... so does your tv not have a tuner in it?

My bedroom TV does not have a tuner of any kind. My living room TV has an analog tuner, but because of FM interference (two FM Traps won't clear it up enough for analog) and interference from digital stations operating on co (same channel) and adjacent channels to the analog stations make analog reception impossible.

The OTA 8VSB unit by itself isn't capable of adequately receiving
all channels. It must be connected to the STB. And when connected it still is not capable of adequately receiving all channels if you can't tune to a channel that is receivable.

No, but if one were to complain you'd better bet VOOM would change it really fast to prevent further action and possible fines. A licensee will change it's tune very quickly when the FCC gives them a call. It's not like the Dolans have never circumvented the rules. They have been in trouble numerous times.

Like the FCC ever made ANYTHING better! Dude- get a grip! You could always cancle Voom if you are so unhappy.

The dumb patch is coming, I can't wait to see what the nitpickers on these forums come up with to pinch their nipples with next.

see, this is why we need bikiniHD. THAT will be ADA-compliant, CC or no CC.

:)

Btw, wasn't the ADA sponsored by Bob Dole? Damn socialist fascist!

Call.. get a credit, I did when I had problems, we know that the release of this new firmware is very soon, hovering around polishing up a CC issue, and perhaps something else that's minor. I think some people exaggerate though. I lived with severe channel mapping problems (like literally 2 out of every 4 channels was messed up and mapped wrong) for two weeks, I even made up my own sheets with the channels as they were mapped to watch programs.. I called Voom got a credit for a whole month, and in 2 weeks problem solved (LNB problem)...just relax, man this company's new and getting better it seems every month.

Bryan, I know how hard life can be when entire states and churches and
industries need your disciplining. So many complaints, so little time to complain.
I'm willing to help you out, though. If you'll post your cancelled Voom
subscription, I'll send you $250.

Go find a Boy Scout troop or somebody to torment.

No, no. I asked whether you know any customer who got his/her locals by filing the complain with the FCC.

Probably not, but only because there has never been another set top box that required a third-party authorization to receive public signals.

Also, my TV does not have a tuner either.

Also, some of us have been waiting 6 months for all their receivable OTA's to be viewable and 6 months for closed captioning to work on all stations.

Also, some of us who purchased the system are already a quarter of the way through our warranty period and we still do not have a fully functional system so you can understand why our patience is running out. To us, VOOM is not new, it is over half a year old and it still doesn't work right and we have stuck around too long to be able to cancel.

Heh. We'd probably end up watching that channel exlusively. :-D

And my brother isn't a big ADA supporter. We're both pretty
libertarian. We're paying for VOOM--if they don't give us what we
need to enjoy it, we'll just cancel, not sic the law on them.

I'd like Voom to succeed. It's not about dicking them out of a
month of fees. I don't care about a credit. I just want to be able
to fully ENJOY IT. I can't do that until the CC issue is cleared
up. And it's not "polishing up" and "issue." It isn't usable.

How would you like it if every third line on the internet was all
you could see? Would it make the net useful to you?

I merely expressed my opinion that if by the end of the month it's
not fixed, I can't see spending money on VOOM anymore. I wasn't the
one threatening FCC or ADA lawsuits.
