Okay, okay so there are things to be address in the future by VOOM. The
question is what is VOOM's answer to the list of "NO"'s ? Are they planning
on filling the void sometime in the future? .. say October? December?

It would be great to get some feedback from them so the complainers would
pipe down.

I look forward to USA and SCI-FI and DVR but I won't give up what I have
with VOOM right now. I love my VOOM!!!

Just to add a little:
Good:
Cinema 10 except Divine (don't want to start another flame)

Equator

Free locals

CSR told me last night I can sell the equipment and the new owners
can have it installed and activated for free.

Don't want to support Motorhomes (another market that Dish and
Direct have captured) althoug I do bring a VOOM receiver with us on
trips.

Bad:
I live in the desert and had Rain Fade last night which knocked me
out for 3 hours. This is our monsoon season and I think it is unfair
to expect an outage every time we have a monsoon storm. I have
Direct TV for the NFL ticket, RSN's and Outdoor Channel, it was on.
I have DishNetwork for HDnet and it was fine.

Rave is just a rip off of PBS Sound Stage.

Rush, repeats, no jet skiing races, not race boat races, not a whole
lot of skiing, wakeboarding etc..

Not enough variety on Animania for the kids, and not enough
programming for the children, i.e. all the Nick channels

No complete Discovery package

No complete StarZ package

No complete Cinemax package, i.e. no 5 Star Max and Outer Max

No RSN's

No OUTDOOR Channel

No HDnet

No Sci-FI

No USA

No Lifetime

No Lifetime Movies

No Fox Movies

No Inhd1 and Inhd2 like originally advertised.

World Cinema, have to watch the captions for the entire movie.

[VOOM] VOOM] Re: Voom - Poor business = No business; Good VS Bad

I love VOOM as well, I have four receivers in the house and one in my
motorhome. It is my families satellite choice because it has the most
movies. The just need a few more channels to round out the line-up. I
have also found the CSR's and installers to be very helpful as well
as having Wilt to escalate issues if need be. I just keep pointing
out the lack of some channels until VOOM listens ;-)

Voom Business Model-Another Enron?

As a life-long techie, I looked at Voom last year when it launched. Too expensive and disorganized! I recently picked up a "new" DSR-550 on Ebay for a reasonable cost. Now comes the fun part; Voom won't let me pay them for programming unless I either buy from them or lease. With 3rd party installers and sales commissions, they will never turn a profit from hardware. Why can't they realize that they are losing revenue from that group of highly trained tech geeks who are more than willing to pay for programming but don't want the hassle of waiting for incompetent installers with bad attitudes.
With the control of program access firmly in their hands, what have they got to lose? I certainly won't recommend the service to anyone without trying it myself. The hardware is just the means to sell programming. Either their management is hung up on having exclusive control when they should be improving performance and subscriber counts, or they have the typical attitude of blaming the troops in the trenches for their lack of financial success.

[VOOM] VOOM] Re: Voom - Poor business = No business; Good VS Bad

I could be wrong, as I've never bought anything off e-bay. Shouldn't
someone contact a company prior to purchasing their equipment on e-
bay to make sure that the equipment can be connected to their
service? Or to see what the price was from the company vs. what you
paid? I can see your point, but... just a thought.

Seriously... if you had bothered to ask, you would have found out that this is not an option. While I strenusouly disagree with Voom's stance on this, I do understand it is their right.
