I have a 30" LCD TV hooked up to the Voom box through DVI. Every time
I change a channel, it looses sync (colors turn weird, negative-like).
The TV manufacturer tells me this is a known problem with Motorola
boxes, since they use non-standard DVI. He also tells me that Motorola
can fix this through software, so I should talk to Voom. Is this correct?

I have a Panasonic LCD and had this same problem. Everything turned blue after switching from an HD channel to a SD. The TV has a color correction option and I turned it on and that fixed the problem.
 
Ooooo I'd love to hear the answer to this as I have the exact same
problem. I assumed it was the TV...

Is this only a problem when you have the voom STB set to native? I
recently switched from 1080i to native, and notice now that the picture
flickers a bit more when switching from one station to another if the
resolutions are different.

I'm using a DVI to HDMI cable.

Native? Hmmm... I'm using 720p (it actually looks better on my
little 27" Olevia LCD that's having the problem). Using DVI-DVI
cable. If I turn the TV off then back on, everything's fine. But it
gets to be a pain if I'm channel surfing. Fortunately, the big plasma
works great! I may try native, tho, just to see what happens. The
other option is to see what happens with the component connection.

It looses sync on both 1080i and 720p (which is what looks best on
both my plasma and the LCD). If I go down to 480i, it changes channels
fine, without loosing sync (but 480i is really not an option). It does
work with component in, although I notice slightly better blacks with
DVI, so I would like to be able to use it).

As I said, I was told this is a known problem with Moto boxes, because
of their use of "non-standard" DVI. I already had the LCD monitor
exchanged, and still have exacly the same problem, so I am inclined to
believe this.

When I called Voom, they suggested that it may be the box, and will
exchange it. Hope this will fix it.

I read somewhere that the latest VOOM software upgrade fixed this
problem, but obviously not in my case.

Anyone with more insight?

I'm using DVI <-> HDMI on a Sony LCD rear projection with no problems.

I stated a day or two ago that since I switched the voom STB to native vs.
1080i, I get a bit more "flicker" when changing channels than I used to,
but it's not awful.

I use the DVI and have for almost a year.. I have a DLP though.
Most complaints seem to be using LCD
