VS/Golf HD to be broken into two channels

"Comcast is creating two separate HDTV networks for The Golf Channel and Versus, as well as launching a standalone HDTV service for E! Entertainment Television in December, officials said Wednesday.........Comcast is talking to distributors about securing carriage for the three HDTV networks, according to a spokesman for the cable operator"


No word on what this means for operators with the current VS/Golf combined channel.

It needed to be done. With Golf Channel showing all of their tournament coverage on all tours in HD, or at least SD wide screen, the sharing arrangement was no longer working. Given the fact that it came down to the last hours on whether they would show golf or the Stanley Cup playoffs in HD last month, I saw this coming.
