What equipment am I required to return after canceling service

I am planning to cancel my Dish Network service next week and was wondering what Dish will require me to return to them. If I am going to have to send back the dish and the LNB, I will have the installer that is installing Directv remove the dish from the roof when he is here. I really enjoyed Dish Network, especially the Hopper system, but the amount of money that I can save by switching to Directv was to great to ignore.

They don't want the dish. They might want the LNB unless you tell them that it is not in a safe place for you to retrieve it. If you don't own your receivers yo will be required to return them as well. Dish will send you a box/es to send them back. You will be charged for the return...

I'll be returning to DTV next week as well. Return the Receivers (if you don't own them), remotes. LNB unless it's not safe to access, but let them know if it's not safe to retrieve.

Read the fine print. Usually, the price they quote is only for 12 months, not 24. (for any provider) If you call to cancel before you setup the install apointment they will probably offer you a better deal then DTV to retain you if its purely a financial decision. Also dish told me they weren't allowed to move the direct tv antenna. I assume its going to be a similar policy for DTV.

They will sometimes remove the majority of the hardware, leaving the base (forgot the correct term) connected to the roof. I've had installers for both do this, and I usually just ask nicely and then tip them.

Receivers, remotes and the LNB from your satellite antenna.

I would remove the antenna if it was accessible from my ladder. And I would NEVER take it with me. The antenna is technically the property of the customer.
If the customer ASKED nicely. I would take it with me. If they DEMANDED I take the antenna, I told them I have no use for it and was not permitted to remove it from the premises.

It is NOT a requirement.

They may do that simply because the location is ideal and the "old" dish (the reflector) portion is slightly in the way of the new one.

If dish is like ATT, Optimum, and other internet providers you better hang on to your tracking number, or any receipt you get.
They all been known to say you never returned the equipment later on
