I just had a 622 installed and a dish 1000 by the "professionals" and now my signal strength is not as high as it was with my dish 500. 119 highest peak 87, 110 was 87, and 129 was 72. Just curious if i should have them come back out. yesterday it rained and it went out instantly.

It could be a little better, maybe another 5 points accorss the board but I would say its pretty much peaked out.

You would probably have better luck using a DISH500 and then a wing Dish to pick up your HD content off 61.5.

If you still have your old Dish500 its pretty easy to configure, using the DISH1000 for 61.5

sounds like your elevation needs raised just a tad, it will raise the 119 and the 110 but keep the 129 at around 72. What i mean by a tad is half a degree higher on the elevation.

As others have said your better off putting up a wing dish for 61.5/129.

yeah, i agree with all the previous responses, its just because of the new dish...
the 110, and 119 could probably be a little higher, but the installer probably sacrificed those to peak out the 129. I would use a wing dish for the 129 (or 61.5)
on a side note, the Dish1000+ does a whole heck of a lot better with picking up the 129. On that I have been getting signals around 90 on the 129. Unfortunately dish wont put one in for you unless you have need for the 118.7

If you put in a second dish to point at 129 how much of a gain in signal could you expect? Right now I am receiving a signal strength of 75 on 129.

Lucky you! Right now I only peak out at about 40-50 on my 129. I am having a tech come out tomorrow to try to get better signals. I already talked to Dish about having the tech bring out all the necessary equipment, extra dish or wing dish, so I can stop calling them. I can't get most of my HD channels, Food, NTGEO and others and it is frustrating. I will just keep calling them out every 2 weeks until I am happy.

A dish pointed at a single satellite should be able to max out, or get very, very close, to 100% (or 125 on Dish's scale).

not on the 129, it is a weak bird, the best i've personally seen on it is about 95 or so (on Dish's scale)

That would still would be a nice improvement.

What was your signal on 129 prior to moving to the 1000+?

My Signal from 129 in southern NM was 58 with TP22 and TP6 the weaker ones close to 80 on TP5 with Dish 1000.
With seperate Dish for 129 I get 75 average on weak TP's 6 and 22.

Using the Dish 1000 in the NW will get you low 60s max on 129 and degraded 110. Two dishes is the solution up here and then it gets 129 into the 70s.

:) so Calif, i have every dish dish has made using the dish1000+ as my primary. i get 100+ on almost every 119 transponder and 90+ on 110. the 118.7 is fss which is a lower powered satellite. it comes in at max 80 low 75. and 129 comes in around 75 also. i think the edge of a tree is slightly in the way of this one. i did notice the elevation for this dish is much higher than others. so far I'm very impressed with it's function and quality of construction. same with the dpp44 switch. i cannot wait for the dpp64!!!

Like some of the others said, if you don't mind a 2nd dish, then go that way. It will allow for a stronger signal off the 129.

As a installer in the southeast the best I've been able to do with the Dish 1000 is the 119 in the 100s, 110 in the 90s, and the 129 in the low 80s (but ususally 72-75).

Heck, even the two guys on "Tech Chat' in August admitted they were disappointed in the performance of the 129 satellite. And that is 2 Dish Network officials saying that on live TV.

I just took this picture at my house on a Dish 1000+ with my cell phone so it's a little small, but if you click on it and open it bigger you can see i'm getting 92 on the 129. I'll admit there are still a few transponders that are in the low 80's but most are high 80's/low 90's
