I'm getting the 1000 installed this month (maybe) for the HD local channels in Los Angeles. Because there are 3 local channels on 148 I can force Dish to install a second dish. Besides the 3 local channels, is there any advantage to have 148?

I think those 3 are mirrored on 129 :)

Other than CBS HD not really (but since you are in LA the MPEG4 HD LIL comes form 129)...a couple PI channels are at 148

Once E10 is launched to 110, I am sure those 3 locals will go to 110 and you will no longer need a dish pointed to 148. I suspect that their will be smaller markets on the West coast that will eventually have HD locals on 148, however LA's HD locals will remain on 129 and soon will be available Nationally for those that qualify for out of market locals.
