Hello, yesterday was the first I was able to play around with my new 1000.4 EA setup I use as a tripod mounted portable. I did not spend a lot of time tweaking but what is the typical level of signal on a 1000.4 EA during setup on 72.7? The highest I had in overcast condition,s right after a line of storms moved through, was 58. When I had the 1K.2 WA LNB on the same setup I was getting about 83 on 119. Those above were using whatever transponders they recommend in the manual that comes with the 1K.4 dish.

Thanks
John

For 61.5 on TP 10 it should be 45-52. TP 14 should be 49-57. 29 should be 58-65. 31 should be 46-54.

72.7 TP 15 should be 43-51, TP 17 should be 48-56, 19 should be 44-52, 21 should be 48-57.

77 TP 13 should be 43-53, TP 16 should be 43-52, 20 should be 44-51, 21 should be 44-53.

77 TP 13 should be 43-53, TP 16 should be 43-52, 20 should be 44-51, 21 should be 44-53.

I just checked my eastern arc dish that I had to re-install after 2008 Hurricane Ike and I got the following signal strengths on those same transponders this morning at around 8:00am sunny skies.

61.5 sat

10 - (should be 45-52) My signal 56. Exceeds expected strength.
14 - (should be 49-57) My signal 60. Exceeds expected strength.
29 - (should be 58-65) My signal 61. Within range.
31 - (should be 46-54) My signal 52. Within range.

72.7 sat

15 - (should be 43-51) My signal 61. Exceeds expected strength.
17 - (should be 48-56) My signal 58. Exceeds expected strength.
19 - (should be 44-52) My signal 60. Exceeds expected strength.
21 - (should be 48-57) My signal 59. Exceeds expected strength.

77 sat

13 - (should be 43-53) My signal 46. Within range.
16 - (should be 43-52) My signal 55. Exceeds expected strength.
20 - (should be 44-51) My signal 53. Exceeds expected strength.
21 - (should be 44-53) My signal 48. Within range.

Looks like the extra work I did getting the dish peaked and adjusting the azimuth cam to get the sweet spot for both 77 and 72.7 paid off. I exceeded expected signal strengths on 8 of those transponders out of 12 and was well in range on the other 4.:)

Yah, SS in SE TX will be slightly different than SW PA as well.

For 61.5 on TP 10 it should be 44-53. TP 14 should be 50-58. 29 should be 55-63. 31 should be 45-54.

72.7 TP 15 should be 52-60, TP 17 should be 50-58, 19 should be 52-60, 21 should be 50-59.

77 TP 13 should be 34-60, TP 16 should be 34-58, 20 should be 36-60, 21 should be 38-59.

Numbers were grabbed from this spreadsheet :-

Well even with those new numbers I still exceed most of the signal strengths hardily. I don't use 77 for anything, since my locals are on 61.5, but I am above on some of those transponders too.

Really anything above mid-to-high 40s is fine for the 8PSK TPs. As long as your LOS is clear of foliage.
