Does anyone know what satellite the French programming is on. We are in eastern Iowa and use the western arc. Would we need a wing Dish in order to get it?

118.7 is the "permanent" home for internationals. In fact, all new international installs are to be for 118 only as Dish will soon complete the migration of all internationals from other sats to 118.7. If you DYI this, please be aware of the following:

1. 118.7 is a Ku FSS satellite; none of the DBS LNBF's can receive this sat, so you will need an appropriate LNBF.

2. Dish Network uses a special dual-band LNBF that receives both 119 and 118.7 using the same LNBF. It is for sale on-line.

3. A larger reflector is needed to receive 118.7 with sufficient signal strength for reliability because Ku FSS band sats operate at lower power than DBS.

Call Dish and you may qualify for reasonably priced upgrade, and they will do everything including changing out the reflector and LNBF's and adding switches if necessary for one price.

Good luck.
