What would make the equipment better

Well, it’s that time of year again, and nobody I have seen has brought this up. Thought it would be fun to make a NEW wishlist, for new equipment. Now, this is to keep things in the realm of likelihood and possibility. That means don’t ask for the 4x fast forward.
Now, I wanted to mix things up from how these have been done in the past. Everyone always talks about software, let’s stick to hardware, and only mention software when it is directly related. For instance, my request for survival is my suggestion from years ago. The Pademelon. This would be a small add on device similar to a Roku, that would allow streaming services and to download apps such as Bally Sports or Peacock. This way it doesn’t take up the user harddrive space and it is an optional cost. So, what are your suggestions to make the Hopper Great Again?

I think the current Hopper3 hardware is ok. I just miss the ability to access content on my external hard drives with Dish Anywhere. I also really do miss 4x which I used a lot in the past when viewing sports. Of course both of these could be handled with a software update.

As far as new hardware; replace the current 4K Joey with a Joey that is capable of handling HDR since the current one does not do this.

Hopper support for larger internal hard drive. Seagate makes an 18TB surveillance drive, how about support for drives up to that size.

Would you really want to put 18TB of programming on a single drive? When, not if, that drive fails you will lose everything.

With the Hopper 3 you can have any combination of drives up to a maximum of 7TB, some say 8. So you could have a 4, 2, 1 combination.

I know. I've got two 2TB externals running now on my H3, for a total of 6TB. I thought about buying a 3TB to add to my 2TB instead of having 2 and 2, but I already had another 2TB Fantom to repurpose, and I didn't want to make my H3 nervous by trying for the 7TB total.

Larger internal drives would allow more content to be accessible through Dish Anywhere, as already noted above. Also, larger internal drives would allow the possibility of expanding the PTAT feature to include more networks. It could possibly be expanded to include popular cable cable channels (not just broadcast networks) with a large enough hard drive to accommodate the recording of so many additional channels, without taking too much long-term storage space away from the user's partition of the internal hard drive.

As far as new hardware overall, I think everyone here knows my number one wish by now: Get with the times and make a 4K HDR Wally already!!! 4K programming access with no monthly DVR fee! How hard is that to accomplish?

I assume that means that the DVR function of a Hopper 3 cannot be disabled by Dish support upon request. It seems like that would be a reasonable function to have available. Whoops, maybe that's software.

Loving the suggestions. I see a lot of software requests on already established hardware. Think big, guys. Think about what they can come out with to revolutionize. I like the Joey combo idea about a regular Joey, HDR capable. At this point, it just makes sense to future proof.

I may be unpopular here, but for the next Hopper, I want the damn clock back. I hate looking for my phone in the morning. A subtle white light clock on the Hopper. And if they wanted to get really fancy, add an alarm clock feature into the Hopper to kick on the tv to a channel and wake you up that way. Not autotune DVR feature. This would operate a little differently.

Ability to disconnect an EHD from a Hopper 3, plug it into a Wally in the camper, and access those recordings from the Wally. In addition, be able to do this whether or not I've got any satellite antenna connected to the Wally. Just as long as I've reactivated the Wally online or on the phone. Without having to mess with the relatively kludgy HopperGO. Also, be able to use the HopperGO as an EHD to the H3, and unplug it from the H3 and plug it into a Wally and have access to those recordings without messing with DishAnywhere.
