whats up with the channels in the 55**s?

i was in the all HD list and i saw these channels :

5500 HDTHR
5501 TNT
5505 ESPN
5506 ESPN2
5507 NFL
5510 HDNET
5511 HDNMV
5512 UNIHD
5515 HBO

maybe theyve been there for a long time but i just noticed them. i changed it to all those channels and everytime i do that i get the acquiring satellite signal message and then "a problem has been detected with your switch." i changed it to the other HBO channel 300 and there is no problem. whats up with the 55**s channels?

Are those older versions for the older series of receiver?

I am not sure on the numbers but i bet you are seeing the HD that is spotbeamed to AK and HI...hence the signal problem.

Like Digiblur said, according to TheList they are on Spotbeam 46(AK) Alaska.

The channels are on spot beams for Alaska and Hawaii. They are not available in the ConUS area.

hmmm no wonder i couldnt see them.. its weird how i was able to see that in the guide data and i live in los angeles.

Yes, they are our very own HD package here in Alaska. For our $10 we get these and for your $20 you get 40,50, 60, 70, or however many the count is.

Don't feel bad. The rest of us do not recieve nearly as many hd channels as the tv ads say we do.
