According to Dish, the "GO" creates "it's own WiFi cloud" so it would seem that it sounds like it would be similar to Home Networks and that distance(s) would depend on factors such as obstacles (wall, etc). Obviously a clear line-of-sight between the H-GO and any receiving devices would be best.

They debuted that at CES. I figure it is in response to the fact that most people's portable devices are limited to 16 gb of internal storage. This device allows people to take a lot of contact with them without filling up their ipad.

Not sure of range, but it is limited to 5 connections.
