who would have a better deal for new customers? Local dealer or direct themself?

Hi,

Who would have the better deal for a new customer for Direct TV? A local dealer or Via Direct themselves? Granted I can find a local dealer that has the HR34 in stock to install.

I would think DirecTV would have a better deal, but it depends on the retailer I believe. Some are able to offer you the same offers as DirecTV and guarantee the latest equipment.

From what I've read on these boards, the advertised programming deals are pretty much the same, but sometimes DirecTV can "sweeten the pot" a little. On the other hand, local dealers may sometimes be able get you a quicker install and often can guarantee a specific receiver model where DirecTV can't. If it were me, I'd check with both and see which could give the best deal that suits my needs.
