Well, I have a good signal at 129 and a 942 on the way this week. I'm looking forward to checking out Voom.

I've heard that Equator and Animania are not available at 129. Tony's channel chart shows them on transponder 12, which I am not getting a signal on.

I realize this isn't an officially supported solution yet, so it's not like you can complain. I'm just wondering if anyone here is actually a Voom@129 subscriber.

Also, do I need to lie to the CSR about receiving 61.5 to get them to subscribe me?

I am gettting Voom from 129 sat. I turned my dish 300 from the 148. Equator and Animania are availible at this time. When i first turned my dish they were not but now they are!!!!! Have fun with your 942!!:D:D

I pointed my 61.5 Dish 500 toward 129 yesterday afternoon and see the VOOM channels on all receivers. The signal levels are a few points less (5-7) than when it was pointed toward 61.5, but it was very easy to lock and peak.

B.H.- Thanks. The info on 129 is sketchy at best until it's made "official", so we need reports from real-world users. Those two channels are of more interest to me than some of the others.

Now hopefully, this rumor about the HD network feeds is true. Assuming they use the same agreements as DirecTV, I should be able to get Fox right away, and should possibly be able to get waivers for ABC and CBS.

I moved my 61.5 dish500 to 129 for the voom channels a month ago and it has been there with better signal then i had on 61.5,

Also i had same problem with equator & animania missing but they are there now and are on full time.

I would like to point my 61.5 dish at 129 as I may actually have a clearer line of sight to 129 than at the 61.5. However, I cannot find anything on the DishNetwork website that will give me the azimuth and elevation for my zip code of 75669. All I find is the A's and E's for 110/119 and 61.5. Can you "point me in the right direction"?, so to speak. :D

Elevation is the same as on your dish 500.. azimuth is ok were its at 129 sat is just to the right of 119.

Stacy A- I just set it up for 119, then swung it over. I think I had to tilt the angle down slightly.

I started having problems with 129 when it got windy yesterday and today. This particular Dish 500 is 5ft off the ground and, while having clear line of sight toward 61.5, is pointed toward a tree top at 129 - I didn't have a problem until the wind stirred up the trees. My Dish 500, 110/119, is 15" higher so I shouldn't have a problem replacing it with a Dish 1000. Right now, I'll just keep my 2nd dish pointed at 61.5. On a positive note, I repeaked my dish and was pulling anywhere from a 106-110 on all the Rainbow-1 VOOM transponders.

I have a much better line of sight to 129 and if all the Voom channels are on it, I'm going to re-point the 61.5. Thanks for the info guys. My receiver can't see 61.5 since Hurricane Rita. On Friday before she came ashore I guy'ed my sat. mast down on the north and south sides in order to help with wind loads. I noticed on Friday night after the winds had kicked up already that I couldn't get any of the Voom stations. I'm not sure what's going on because I haven't had time to play around with it, but I think the dish just got pushed out of alignment, which is strange because it sat there, unused for two years pointing at 61.5 and was still in perfect alignment when I added the SW21 and turned on the 61.5 VOOM channels. We have had high winds during storms and it never hurt it. Oh well, I'll play with it later.

I just used my dish that was pointed at 110/119. now I get 119/129. at first was having problems with Equator/animania. thought it was because I did not set up the dish right, but then, the next day both channels are fine and doing well up to this date. after I cancel my international channel I'll repoint the dish currently at 148 to 129 so that I can repoint the first one to 110/119 (right now I can't get tnt HD). at first I thought those channels were a waste of bandwitch but now i actually catch myself watching them more and more (nothing like Mr. Maggoo in HD!) :D Really tempted to also get a 942!

Ironically, Mr Magoo wouldn't appreciate HD at all. :)

My 942 is coming tuesday, and I'm curious to hear people's opinions on this question: Does Voom (and other HD) under DBS compression still look better than a good progressive DVD player? I realize the resolution is higher, but I'm curious how the final products compare. Yesterday, someone posted a screenshot showing Bubba Hotep on Monsters HD. I got excited about it, and then felt a little silly, since the DVD is sitting on my shelf right now.

A good guess for 129 azimuth and elevation might be to take 10/9 * ("119" - "110") + "119" using the Dish 300 values or interpolate from 119 or 121 and 148. Skew does not matter on a 300 or a central 500 but would on a twin 500 with a 4.5 deg offset.

My table would be:
Sat A-mag Elev
61.5 110 28 (300 for ref)
105 167 48 (superdish)
110 176 48 (300)
119 191 46 (300)
121 194 45 (superdish)
129 203-207 41-44 (guess)
148 226 29 (300)
I have not tried as I get a good 61.5 signal on my 921, so I'll wait.
Make your own nonlinear table, you might get it to a degree with a graph and a plumb mast.

I got two dish 500 one pointing at 110/119 and the other pointed at 129 ,

i get ch. 9470 RAVE
ch. 9471 EQUTR
ch 9472 GALLERY
ch 9474 AMIMA
ch 9476 RUSH
ch 9478 ULTRA
ch 9479 GUYTV
ch 9480 MJSTC
ch 9481 MNSTR

I can't see 61.5, but moved a dish from 148 to 129 and get VOOM. I had to lie to the CSR to subscribe. He wouldn't let me sign up unless I said that I was pointing at 61.5. So I lied. I'm still pointing at 129 and I get VOOM.

Oldbob- what is your setup? I have - 942, legacy Twin Dish 500, legacy Dual Dish 300, 2 SW21s. Software 281. Cable lengths are fine, switches are closer to receivers.

I am not getting any Voom channels except TP 9 (GuyTV, HDNews, Rave). Transponders 6 and 10 show as good or better signal than TP 9 (about 80- higher than anything on 110). TP 12 (Equator, Animania) has NO signal.

All Voom channels other than the first three say I need to run a switch check. I have posted this elsewhere, but you are the first person I've seen who moved a 148 dish to 129.

Dish 921 - 9 July 04
SW Version L270HECD-N
Boot Version 140B, Flash Version F052
Dish 500 w/DP Twin, 500w/DP Dual, DP-34 Switch
TV: Panasonic CT-34WX50
Component in via Yamaha 1400

I would also like to move my 148 dish to 129 to get Voom. Is there a link to any instructions on how to do this? Specifically what has to be done at the receiver after getting the dish pointed. I have an 811 receiver and two 301s. Also is it for sure you have to tell them you're pointed at 61.5?

Whtevr- I had to call back and "play dumb"- I said "I've got two dishes, and I can see the Voom channels in red, so can you turn them on?"

Do you have legacy dishes, or DishPro? As you may have noticed from my bazillion posts, I can only get 3 Voom channels. The switches are somehow blocking some of the transponders. I still haven't been able to figure out whether the problem is with the 942 or the legacy switch set-up. But so far, everyone that has responded has DishPro.
