why does Prime Ticket HD miss the first few innings of Dodger games?

Often when Dodger games begin, Prime Ticket's HD channel instead has a static screen that says "check back often to see when your favorite team is playing." It stays on that card until usually the 2nd or 3rd inning, when the game suddenly comes on. On the SD version of the channel I can get the game in its entirety. Why does the HD channel regularly miss the first few innings of the game?

Dish only sets aside X amount of bandwidth for HD RSN's so in most cases if you are on the west coast or your local team is playing on the west coast the HD feed will be JIP (joined in progress). They have to shuffle RSN"s around for bandwidth reasoning

known issue with Dish. Be lucky your game is partially in HD. ;) SOme folks the games arent in HD on Dish even though they are on cable and DIrectv

So how do they choose when the HD turns on? It's totally random--sometimes at the start of a game, sometimes a couple of innings in, but always in the middle of an inning. And then they carry the rest of the game even if it goes extra innings.

The least they could do is to change the slate to tell you when the game will come on and to turn to the SD channel in the meantime.

it all depends on how many early games they have to do

If they decide that your game is piggybacked to say the Twins/Red Sox game (that starts at 6 Central and the west coast games are usually 9 Central). If the Twins game gets over at 8:55 then they would flip the switch to the HD fee of your game

But if the game runs until 9:25 then you are joined in progress

At least for Brewers' games, when this is a issue, it will say on the hd ch. sched JIP and a guesstimated time.
