Why is the 5 series DVRs so slow loading OpenTV

I have a 508 and a 301, you'd think that the base opentv software would be cached on the hard drive, but my 301 loads opentv so much faster. It even has cool background music, ok maybe not cool. why is the 301 plainly faster? It's guide, channel switching, and opentv apps are all much or slightly faster than the 508s.

It is SO slow, that I don't even use the applications. There are actually some applications I would consider using for looking up movies, weather, or news, but it isn't worth it based on the sluggishness.

There should be a way of caching data or allowing users to pick a couple programs that they care about and have them updated automatically, for instance, so if I go into weather, it'll already be loaded with the last weather channel update.
