Will Dish ever move Voom channels ?

Got it repointed (my original dish pointed at 110 and 119). dont' know if I did a good job with that or not cause I was getting reallly bad pixelation with two of the channels. I also checked signal intensity and they were quite low for a couple of transponders (around 45-50%) barely enough to get a lock. but I still got the channels activated for $10/month. may keep them for a month to check them out, but, so far not really impressed with what they show. but, it's HD!!!

OIC! Thanks. Up the roof I go! and I guess I'll be keeping my 811 after all.

Check your alignment. The 129 satellite has slightly lower signal strength then we are used to on 110/119, but it's still in the 90's or low 100's.

3-4 years? Seriously?
Yeah - think about the number of receivers they have to replace (maybe 20 million or more) before they can switch the basic 3 tiers from MPEG-2 to MPEG-4.

You can rest assured that it will not even BEGIN until several months after MPEG-4 receivers are being used for all new customer installs.

And here I am, thinking that I'd wait until they go to MPEG-4 before I get a 942 because I didn't want to spend my money on a soon-to-be door-stop. I've got an 811 now, but want a DVR rather badly.

So, what do you all think? Get the DVR or wait it out? Thanks!

Well, it all depends on the Benjamin$.

Remember, my previous reply was in the context of ALL programming being MPEG-4.

HD will be the first stuff to convert, so the 811/921/942 have a shorter useful life than any of the SD receivers - even old Legacy boxes. :(

How long? Who knows.

Thanks. I did not change the angle and I did move the dish around to the right and left and the best I could get was a signal around 60. Could it be because I had it still set with the dual LNB and it may still be trying to find 119 (sorry if this sound like a dumb question...).

There's your sign. :)

Adjust your elevation - down a couple of degrees.
