Will my TV accept the new 1080p24 VOD, check here...

looks a little outta date but what do I know

If your TV can do 1080p or says 1080p, you should be good, some like myself are not good, I have a Hitachi Ultravision 1080i plasma and it says no go.

Not true and that is the common mistake people are making. A lot of 1080p sets will not accept 24p and you need a 120hz (or some multiple of 24) set to eliminate 3:2 pulldown (use 5:5 instead for 120hz) to make it matter anyway. And some 120hz don't do 5:5 pull down.

Otta date? It was updated yesterday, but yes it may not be 100% accurate or include every tv. Still a great list.

The only thing "1080i" about your Hitachi plasma TV is the signal that the Dish receiver is willing to send to it. The display is inherently progressive, and the HDMI inputs accept 1080p input, just not 24Hz (only 60Hz).

Well, so much for the list. My Sony A3000 is on the list and yet is incompatable when Dish runs it's HDMI test so I can't watch I Am Legend in 1080p.

nope, my TV is ~3 years old and is only 1080i

That's not true - as soon your HTDV set SUPPORT 1080p24 format, REGARDLESS 120Hz refresh rate; it could be native 24Hz (j/k) or any; INPUT signal must be accepted in 1080p24 format - that's the key !

Correct, from Dish's standpoint. What I was saying is 24p really does you no good without 120hz because without it you still need 3:2 pulldown and will have frame judder.

Assuming your TV does everyright right (and that can be a big if), if it is a 60hz display there will be no difference in sending a 1080i60 vs 1080p24 signal to it. You need a 120hz display (or some multiple of 24) to get the benefit of 24p.

My friend has a TV(Sony KDL-52w4100) on the list yet it tests with E* as 1080i. The list is for Blue Ray equipment not E* VIPs. We need a list for E* compatability.

Yup. Doesn't seem like ANY Sony TV's are compatible with E* for 1080p.

The list is TVs known to accept 1080p24. So if your TV is on the list but it does not work with the Dish 1080p then the problem is on Dish's end and not your TV. Hopefully another software update can resolve some of the issues, such as what appears to be a possible issue with all Sony's as mentioned above.

I highlighted the correct part of your post.

I have 48hz capability on my PJ and it looks good with 24p material.
