would fta work in my area

ok i have finally joined. first hats off to you guys for a great site. on to business i have been wanting to by a fta system with motor at sadoun or ebay but want some info if where i live would even benefit me to do this. i moved to maine zip 04416 and want to know if a setup so far north would get the fta satellites in the sky. i do have a clear line of site to the south with no obstructions. i looked at lyngsats website but cant figure it out to well. i wanted to get a fortec star classic or ultra with 30 dish and motor combo for one room setup to start hobbying with. i have to keep the directv to keep the rest of the family happy. i figured fta with a motor is a little more complicated than slapping a 18 inch dtv satellite on my roof so thats why im asking. any info is greatly appriciated.

Yes a FTA system will work “way up north” in Maine. I’m in Minnesota and have no issues. Most of your satellites would be to the SW/W of your location since you are pretty far to the East coast.

A motor does add some fun into the aiming but once you’re set up, you can motor to each satellite and see what’s up there
