well, Chalk up another blithering idiocy from the folks at dishnet. I planned to upgrade my 811 to a 211 so I could get my locals in HD. So I sell my 811 on ebay and order a 211. I had a ppv that hadn't been called in by the 811 so I hooked up the phone line and sent it in. After waiting a day to be sure the ppv had posted to my account I call in to remove the 811 from my account. That's when I'm told that they cannot remove the 811 from my account because of an open work order. WTF does having a work order open have to do with removing a receiver from my account??

Their system is so inflexible, no changes at all can be made to an account if there's a pending work order.

I went thru the same thing a while back, while waiting on my superdish install date to arrive. (long story short, local NBC was unviewable OTA due to hurricane damage, ordered superdish for locals via satellite, then realized i could use my existing NBC waiver and at least get NBC from New York) When I called to add WNBC, they said could do so, but would have to cancel & reschedule my install. Ridiculous. I bet if I'd called to order Porn or AEP, they would have figured a way to do it.

Yeah I'm not that impressed with their system software. I also was shortsighted in cancelling a 3-movie pack that I was getting for free trying to make it so that I didn't get billed. Unfortunately they pull the channels as soon as they get the cancellation order.

I called them and said I still wanted the 2 weeks I had left on my free trial. They acknowledged that I should still get 2 weeks free, but I had to allow them to bill me ($30.99) in advance so I can still get the remaining 2 weeks. I asked them if they can just hold the billing and then cancel on the 29th of the month, and they said their computers cannot do pre-programmed cancellations. Huh? Isn't this 2006? It would be a very simple addition to their systems. Oh well, needless to say I'm going to shortpay my bill and cancel on the 29th.
