Is it me or does it seem like everyone online is willing to say the most racist things ever. Its like these pale white virgins feel so confident behind their headset that they are willing to say anything...

I have a few friends that were banned, only a day, for saying some wickede hateful stuff regarding to homosexuals but doesn't stop it, and I don't think anything will as it is contagious... in an odd way.

thank god for the Mute button:D

Its all the kids. Same thing on PS3 network.

Clearly this person the only thing he knows how to do is create a huge bashing fest.

You will find idiots all over the internet, Yes I heard kids being really stupid online (VoIP) there is nothing you can do about it, I mean take a look at Counter Strike 1.6 and Counter Strike Source.
I have a server for CSS (2+ years now up and running), and we imply the rules by having admins 24/7, xbox or any other companies will not spend extra money to keep an admin to every server to keep chat clean.
So the best thing you can do now is /mute.

BTW the only other company that imply this rules very effectively is World of Warcraft, you say something stupid, its recorded, so the other person you said that ***** reports you and you get banned.

You've got it right, it is all about the money. They will not spend money on admins, or voice recognition software etc., until it hits them in the pocketbook; once they: get sued, get nailed by lawmakers, lose revenue form kid's parents pulling the plug, etc.... then they will jump all over it and clean it up. The whole thing is in it's infancy at the moment, and eventually they may have to have areas segregated by age or ratings etc. Too me it is just people talking crap and only words, but I am thick skinned.

In particular its the zit faced 19 year olds telling the 13 year olds to "s&ck their D*cks". Nothing wrong with online game play as long as you keep mute on. Its a shame. PS you dont need VOIP service to hear or talk on these networks, not sure where you were going with that.

As for being internet tough guys it happens all the time. On XBox Live I played a guy in Madden and his profile listed "kill all the J>>S" I added the >> the guy spelled it out.

I reported him and he was banned. Im not of that particular religion but it bothered me that video game land was a place for this hate.

I think language and sportsmanship get tossed out the window when anonymitity comes into play.

Just keep reporting people.

The one thing I wonder about is when it comes to things that are said. It becomes a you said he said thing. If more people report the same things against a particular user Im sure Xbox Live will take the necessary measures to ban the guy or suspend him

It will never be legislated, that's an overreaction, it's just a matter of having effective means to report the behavior and equally as effective means to punish it.

Really can't be sued over it either since TOS and various other rules cover from liability. Much different from debatable click-EULA type wrappers, ESPECIALLY on Live where you are agreeing to the terms of a paid service, so they have more leaverage than most.

Wow I'm not one to be a pot insulting the kettle, so I will say I talk trash alot, however I refrain from personal insults.....I just talk trash related to the gameplay....

Ever see "The Breakup"?? With Vince Vaughn that's me I don't care if they are 12 or 30, I talk smack on unbelievable plays, especially if the other person instigates it....

But the profanity of others does not really bother me...I deal with profanity all day everyday dealing with military....not that everyone in the military is like that, but alot of them use language ...especially when they can't get what they want because of contract regulations and blah blah....

Plus I listen to O&A and Jim Norton so I guess overall I'm just desensitized to it and it does not bother me...I just personally choose not to behave that way....I'm an adult and I guess that's the difference

Yeah I'm part of the problem actually, lol... it like just comes out naturally, wierd. You get shot and you just want to go ape sh*t on the guy. there is something to talking trash that makes it enjoyable, but there is a boundary with it, a line that gets walked ever so carefully.

When you speak to someone over the internet via mic its called VoIP.
This was mainly what the thread was regarding about.

Not normally, no.

VoIP is a specific type of voice communication over a network.

Talking over Live, and in games, you are connected to essentially a chatroom and you're talking to whomever is in it (or yourself if nobody is there to listen).

VoIP is a specific form/set of protocols that accomplishes the same feat but in a generally more specialized basis.

Please dont be foolish enough to think its limited exclusively to kids and teens, I've heard adults in their 30's and 40's not only talking trash but saying some stuff that would make a drill instructor cover his ears wether it be on ventrilo or teamspeak or on ps2 network. The kids are bad and they're obviously getting from other friends and family and the friends are following the same cycle.

I've dealt with a player in wow that was saying some pretty bad stuff and a gm showed up within 5 mins of my doing a report but I have no idea what was done about the other person due to confidentiality rules. Did the same thing in eq2 but in another game I play called entropia universe you can get away with a hell of alot short of racism.
