AL CENTRAL

161 games down and...............................

Minnesota..................85-76.............................-
Detroit.......................85-76.............................-

Tomorrow should be fun!!!

It's why I love baseball! Go Twins!

Leyland talked before the game and reminded the guy's that if they don't score, it doesn't matter HOW well JV pitches, they won't win ....

Tigers came out and have 3 runs in the first 2 innings ..... hopefully they will keep going and not quit hitting now that they have a lead.

Twins beat Grenke yesterday, so I got to give them credit, if they win it , they deserve it.

If the Tigers win it today, it will be because the Tigers finally WOKE UP and the Royals did us a favor ......

People are talking like the playoff between the Twins and Tigers is a definite, but it's not .... if one team wins and the other doesn't, they win it.

Looks like well be having a one game Playoff Tuesday Night in the DOME (of doom).
Tigers winning in the 9th 5-3, however Rodney is in to close it out and has a guy on so far, so as we've all known all season, nothing is a sure thing with Rodney.

Twins winning 7-1 , don't remember what inning, but it doesn't look like it matters ;)

fwiw, I hate the Metrodome, we have lost many games there due to the stupidity of the guy that decided to make the roof the same color as the ball in play.

edit:
Tiger's win, 5-3

The Metrodome celebration that was after the game was awesome!

Funniest moment was Kent Hrbek. He gets up there to start talking about the dome and says "well this was suppose to be the last game here but some people had to screw it up and ruin my speech" :D

Kirby Puckett's son (Kirby Kr) got to take down the sign in left that said "1" at the end and there was a target symbol behind it

Also it just shows how much of an a-hole Chuck Knoblauch (still) is

They had the all Metrodome team after the game. It was something that was done via online voting all summer. There were 4 people who made the team and could not be there
3 had legit reasons.....1 didnt have one

Torii Hunter & Johan Santana are still playing and Kirby Puckett is deceased so they are legit. Torii & Johan had video messages. Knoblauch wasnt there and no message

Kirby's introduction brought tears to most people. Dan Gladden and Tom Brunansky held a Puckett jersey in Center Field. All and all it was neat to see the older guys

by the way...the all Metrodome team (of you hadnt seen it)

Back in the late 1980s or early 1990s, I remember listening to a post-game radio interview on the Red Sox network of a young Minnesota Twin player who had been selected Player of the Game. He actually said, "I had the good fortune of breaking into the majors on one of the greatest teams of all time. We had guys like Gary Gaetti, Tom Brunansky, Ken Hrbeck and Kirby Pucket" Honest!!

That dolt didn't realize that there had been at least half a dozen baseball teams IN THE 1970s, when he was a kid, whose talent dwarfed that of the 1987 Twins. Brunansky and Hrbeck wouldn't have even started on the 1972-1974 Oakland As, The 1971-1976 Cincinnatti Reds or the 1976-1978 New York Yankees, and the Red Sox, Dodgers and Orioles fielded better teams than the 1987 Twins as well.

But in fairness to the Twins, and with all due respect to the Oakland Athletics, they have accomplish more with less resources than has any other team in baseball.

No mention of Jack Morris ???? :D
He did win the BIGGEST game for them.

I know, he wasn't there long.

They introduced lots of former twins

the introduction was done as such

-former and current executives
-Calvin Griffith's and Carl Pohlad's sons and family (Carl's 3 sons still run the team)
-current team with exceptions
-other random guys who werent part of a division title (Marty Cordova, Ron Coomer)
-ballplayers who have been part of a division title (2002, 2003, 2004, 2006 etc)
-ballplayers who were part of 87 & 91 WS (Jack came out during this)

-then the all Metrodome team

but Kent Hrbek said it best when he was doing his "last game at the done" speech

"We got one more game. We gotta come back Tuesday and drink some more beer!!" :D

curious, was Jack there ?

curious, was Jack there ?

yep. He's a broadcaster on the Twins Radio Network so he came out with the 91 WS guys who weren't part fo the all Metrodome team

going off top of my head...guys from 91 who were there
Jack Morris
Scott Leius
Mike Pagliarulo
Chili Davis
Scott Erickson

then the guys who were here for both 87 & 91
Gene Larkin
Randy Bush
Al Newman (who looks eerily like Kirby Puckett now)

then the guys from 87
Tim Laudner
Steve Lombardozzi
Juan (Senor Smoke) Berenguer
Roy Smalley

After Kirby Puckett Jr took doen the sign in left from "1" to the target logo (aka 0) then they showed the 3 former Twins greats not to play in the dome (Killebrew, Oliva, Carew) at Target Field and they raised the 3 flags
-US flag
-Minn flag
-"This is Twins Territory" flag

and they said we'll see ya outdoors in April :)
