Dish just called me, asked how my sling adapter was working....

eh, I don't have one ...I do have an old slingbox pro that i haven't used in several months ?

The guy on the phone said customers have had issues with Dish Anywhere and they're sending out free slingbox adapters to valued customers. Mine shipped already, shows as an ordered accessory in my dish account, 2-day shipping.

Anybody else get this offer?

I have a couple of problems with Dish Anywhere:

1. It doesn't support conventional Slingboxes.
2. It is very flakey with respect to being able to talk consistently to my ViP622.

Its for people who have Slingboxes and now those Slingboxes no longer work on the site and apps so Dish is being nice and giving out Sling Adapters to those people. They are able to identify which users have been using Slingboxes and they reach out accordingly.

The web browser did crash just now when i tried it but it's working nice in a short test on my nexus 7

but it was a very short test on both but it is nice to have them contact me and send free stuff. Can't hate on that at all and i paid 100 bucks for my adapter too so i get a new version for no charge.

Just got the call. I hadn't used it in while since I switched to taking my iPad with me and I wasn't going to pay money for the App. I started using slingbox with dish YEARS ago. They had a site that eventually became Dish Online that allowed to DVR management and viewing of programing. If I recall it was a bit of a hassle to play sling content and you had to enter the site from the right URL and it only worked with certain web browsers. I ended up just using the Sling Client on the computer and skipped most of the hassle.

I got the call too. I just chatted in and verified the phone # and they automatically told me why they called and sending me a sling adapter free 2nd day UPS. Awesome of them to do that.

Under My Account there was an option to add a slingbox and it would bring up a sling login and as stated above, you enter your sling username and password and you are good to go.
It's weird that they wouldn't continue that. They own Sling. And, many Dish users prefer the deeper capabilities of using a Slingbox over a Sling Adapter.

Maybe Singboxes still work with Dish Remote Access? (I can't try since I have no Slingbox.)

Yes, I received the offer too. I had one slingbox and one sling adapter. The slingbox stopped working with the apps a few months ago (but I still used slingbox.com to view tv and my dvr). I did contact them at that time and I was told that this was no longer supported. Not pleased at that point - but not the end of the world. It was nice to get an unsolicited call to get the sling adapter for free. It arrived yesterday.
