Got a qustion if i buy the HD and pay the $40 fee and say 2 are 3 weeks the receiver goes bad is it transferable to another receiver.
If it's replaced by another 211/K/Z, yes. The capability is tied to your account, not the receiver itself. However if you were to upgrade to an actual DVR (VIPs, Hopper) then no.

In all cases, the ehd is keyed to the account number. So an ehd on a 211 can be used on another 211 on the same account. One on a VIP sereis/Hopper can be used on any other VIP/Hopper system on the same account.

To avoid possible confusion from your post, EHD recordings from a 211 can NOT be played on a VIP/Hopper

So, if you pay the $40 for dvr services on a VIP211K, then you add another VIP211K, you'll have dvr capabilities on both (as long as they're on the same account)?

It's on your account not the 211 in fact if you were to add a 211 it would automatically become a DVR when you activated it, and you could swap hard drives from one to the other.
