now i am bummed

when asked if an hr24 could connect to the hs17 here was the reply

"It should but no way to test. They only allow hs17 in system with clients. If cust has other boxes theyre using we have to install new dish for just hs17. Also it takes 11 tuners so you would only end up with 2 boxes (non client) max"

giving up a dvr for a client only system is a big step backwards.
i dont use pip, but as far as i know there is no client that can do it
Well, thats a NO GO for me then ....
I need my HR24s to work, I don't want clients.

Well from what I've read over at the "other guys" HS17 topic,
well I'm placing my stock with Scott.

That thing isn't being installed currently, and from the mess I've seen over "there" that thing won't be out in 2017.

That original document posted at the other site did say next generation Genie. However, I wonder if what the DTV people are right in what they told Scott? The HS17 is in beta testing, what if the beta test isn't going great and DTV doesn't like what they are seeing with the HS17? What if they also have other models in testing? Would products still have to get tested through the FCC even if they don't see the light of day?

You could be on to something if it's not working as well as they had hoped ...
Yes the FCC would still have to ok any product that they think they want to use.

Considering it seems the installs started after CES.... I would venture to say whoever spoke at CES misspoke for now.. I would imagine before they started a field test.. this would have been tested heavily in a lab environment before rolling out to the stage we are now.. So if it would have failed.. it would be before they started to produce these for field trials

You mean the pictures of the install from the installer is not actually installing it?

Considering that DTV is the only way to watch at least some broadcast 4K TV (Up coming Masters Tournament and last weeks Pebble Beach tournament, up coming Planet Earth ll ), from a purely marketing standpoint, they are missing a big boat by not offering a multi 10+ tuner 4K DVR.

And how does not having a 10 tuner DVR limit anyone from watching the 4K content coming up?

Per Source, HS-17 is moving out of Alpha Trials very soon and into Beta Field Trials beyond the ones being tested right now

Prove it...
Where's your source?
It takes more than 1 guy on the Internet to convince me that HS17 are being installed anywhere other than a few exclusive testers.

I wouldn't doubt it. Most beta testers can not talk about equipment they are testing until that equipment is officially released to the public. Some may have NDA's and others may not but they are told if they say anything they will never get to test any future products.

Not concerned with proving anything to you.. when they start to roll out more i am sure we will here more
