Slow Hopper 1, need free upgrade

In reality they should discontinue the H1 and use the HWS as the base system and for those who can't stand the H1 give them a free upgrade to the HWS or discounted upgrade to H3
I bet they will eventually, but for now, those that complain will be offered an upgrade to a HWS or H3 at "x" cost. Many will do it.

So I finally got my replacement H1 and... surprise surprise... it's just as bad. Guess I just have to save up for the h3

I got an email they are cramming the. New interface on my hopper 1 mid June. So I downloaded it yesterday. Slower than a turtle when retrieving recording s.

Great way to run a business. Degrade your customer experience and then tell them to suck it up.

Congrats! Now you know why I went through so much to get a Free upgrade. Just email executivecustomerservice@dish.com That's who I emailed.

I wonder if Dish would offer frustrated Hopper 1 customers a free "Hopper Lite" (that Scott posted a rumor about) as a replacement, when it comes out. Some customers might go for that if the DVR fee for the "Hopper Lite" is lower than what they are currently paying for a regular Hopper.

If the Hopper Lite ends up simply being a replacement for the ViP series, one has to wonder if its output also follows those of the ViP line, which one would assume would preclude connectivity to existing Joeys in a Hopper replacement scenario.

Good point, although some people use a Hopper without any Joeys. I just assumed that being a "newer" receiver, the "Hopper Lite" would work better with the new UI. Since the "Hopper Lite" is intended as an upgrade from the ViP series, I wonder if it will also be able to use the MT2 module from the ViP722k.

Oh, I think all Hoppers will use that USB dongle. For code and physical space reasons.

I'd agree, especially if Dish simply takes a Hopper 1/2/3 model and doesn't do much more than reduce the # of satellite tuners. The amount of "sharing" possible would be a huge benefit (to Dish).

But wait, isn't a 'Hopper Lite' simply a Hopper 1 or 2 ? Or will it have a TV2 output like the ViP receivers and not use Joeys ?

I doubt very much it will have a TV2 out, SD or HD. Heck, even Dish must recognize SD is dead, even if there is still a market for it today.

Those damned CRTs can't last forever! Although a 27" and 36" of mine keep chugging along. Rarely used, of course.

The TV2 out is more of a business thing now. I've only seen hd duos in restaurants lately. The last I heard of someone having one in their house is a couple years ago when my grandparents had dish.

Hopper lite should just be a receiver like the Hopper 1 that can do 3 tuners at a time, except without the slow interface. That way people can still use joeys for another room like the tv 2 function of the Vip receiver.
