2015 NCAA football discussion thread

This one REALLY surprised me.
Not me. Early season college football rankings are based on nothing more than history. No way Ole Miss should've vaulted as high as they did after that sloppy win over Alabama, who's ranking was suspect at the time as well. Georgia, UCLA, and Notre Dame were also overrated. No surprises there either. A lot of teams will be exposed as frauds over the next few weeks, including LSU I'm afraid, whose defense seems as soft as a baby's butt right now.

You are right, I think I mentioned that Ole Miss jumped way too far a few weeks ago, from 15 to 3, that was ridiculous ...
The other sweet heart of the sec last year (outside of the usual suspects) was Miss. St. .... I haven't looked to see what they are up to yet this year, how are they doing so far ?

They are 3-2 I believe, 1-2 in the conference. A&M handled them fairly easy at College Station last night, at least I thought they did. They lost several key players from last season except for Dak Prescott, who can't do it alone. LSU squeaked by them in Starksville without playing a warmup game, and I think Southern Mississippi gave them a pretty hard time the first game of the season. Mississippi State just seems to be the same team they were before last year.

I actually agreed with ole miss being where they are. Without the benefit of two weeks hind sight they at that point had the strongest claim to be rated highly imo.

They still have the inside track on the west, one loss does nothing to derail them. Much as it did not to bama or a few others.

Be curious as to the rankings later. I figure bama will be right back in the top five. Or right at it anyway.

As to state, they are not the team they were last season (before the wheels came loose). And THAT team had the benefit of a very soft starting schedule.

Teams going up and down these polls like they're in highrise elevators. It will be interesting to see how the playoff committee uses them, if they do at all.

Have they announced how they are handling tickets for that game?

http://espn.go.com/blog/sec/post/_/...-decision-to-move-the-lsu-south-carolina-game

LSU’s season-ticket holders have until 5 p.m. CT Thursday to purchase print-at-home tickets -- priced from $40 to $100, with student tickets costing $5 -- and then tickets will go on sale to the general public starting at 6 p.m.

“Obviously copies can be made [of print-at-home tickets] so we would advise fans not to buy tickets on the street,” assistant athletic director Brian Broussard said. “As of right now, there’s a lot of tickets available, so we prefer if you use some sense and buy them from us and just be done.”

LSU had sold approximately 10,000 tickets as of Wednesday afternoon, and Broussard said he expects South Carolina to bring between 1,000 and 2,000 fans.

For now, LSU plans to close the East Upper Deck and South Upper Deck seating to ticket sales, but will open those areas if demand requires such a move.

South Carolina will keep the gate since this is still officially a Gamecocks home game and LSU will pocket only enough to cover expenses, approximately a half-million dollars.
