PBS in NY, NY? Spot Beam??

The local NY, NY PBS channels (there are several) are spotbeamed; the national PBS feed is not authorized in the NY, NY DMA.

    Service Suspension

There's no charge, monthly or otherwise, to suspend your account with DTV (Dish charges $5.00 per month, cleverly calling it putting your account on "pause"). Your current account balance however must be zero, or show a credit in your favor, to suspend.

    Directv shuts down my tv

Here's a guess. Are you perhaps using a "universal" remote control for both units to make the switch? It is possible that the code for the satellite/off-air switch is the same code as for your TV's "off" function. The high-pitched whine you hear is simply the sound of the television's...

    Really Confused on 2nd Account

Correct. Been there, done that. What you want to do is a completely separate (second) account, not a mover plan or an additional receiver on an existing account. If they set it up as a move, you will lose service at the first location. If they mistakenly set it up as an additional receiver...

DrectTV and Dish satellites dishes interchangeable

That particular Dish Network legacy gear could indeed be used to receive the "core" (basic) DirecTV programming package(s) from their main satellite position at 101 degrees. Most locals and the newer high-definition channels, however, are on other satellites not receivable simultaneously, but...

    PQ WLBZ (2) Bangor

If all your other Bangor locals look good, call the Chief Engineer of WLBZ, who may be reached at WCSH in Portland, where he is also the engineer there. Typically, picture quality issues for locals originate at the point of entry for all stations in the market, rather than being a satellite...

Grounding?? - Want to make sure installer told me correctly

Don't believe so. Grounding should take place at the point of building entry. You could install a grounding block at your ridge vent, running the ground wire down from it to your cable ground. The idea is to drain off static charges or divert lightning before entering the building.

110/119 Spotbeam vs Non Tp Signal

Higher signal strengths on spotbeams intended to serve your particular area are normal. CONUS signal levels are typically lower than local spots, but yours are too low for reliable service, especially during periods of rainfade, etc. If they were not that low at the time of installation, it is...

    Superstation WWOR Baseball Blackouts

Yankees games on WWOR, as of last night's game anyway, are not being blacked out for out-of-market Superstation or a la carte subscribers. Enjoy!

    Packaging Question: Is This Possible?

If your service address is in the NYC DMA, there's no need to subscribe to Sports Pack on D* to get YES and SNY, 24-7, without blackouts. They are included as local RSNs when you subscribe to your local channels package. Congrats!

    Yankee games on TV?

About twenty or so Yankee games per season, typically on Friday nights, are broadcast over WWOR, which is carried by E* as a Superstation and is available on an a la carte subscription basis. If the YES network is not carried by E*, as it is by D*, then you will indeed be blacked out of the...

    yankee games on wwor 2006???

Actually, in response to the first poster's question, there are more Yankees games in total available on E* than on D*, since E* substitutes the Yankees "away" team announcer feeds for the YES Network feeds it does not carry, and also has available all of the WWOR OTA feeds as part of its...
