I've posted in other threads that WETA, the PBS station in Washington, DC, has done a great job with its own "WETA UK" digital broadcast channel:

If a national version of this channel could be rolled out, it would give BBC America some serious competition. My idea is for WETA to partner with Acorn to launch the nationwide network. Have it carried on the PBS platform, just like Create, World, etc.
Also, I understand that BBC America can't automatically get rights to all the best BBC shows, because some of them are surely outbid by PBS, etc. larger networks than BBCA. But I agree wholeheartedly with others in this thread that there must be *some* British programming that is A. Better than the crap they rerun endlessly now and B. The rights are still available in the USA.
